2022 SSI and Spousal Impoverishment Standards

The Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) has released the 2022 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Spousal Impoverishment Standards. Beginning in January 2022, these standards will take effect for SSI and Medicaid program beneficiaries. When it comes to Medicaid planning for long-term care, here are the relevant figure updates for 2022:

Monthly Maintenance Needs Allowance (MMNA)

Minimum MMNA: $2,177.50 ($2,721.25 for Alaska, $2,505 for Hawaii)

Maximum MMNA: $3,435

Community Spouse Resource Allowance (CSRA)

Minimum CSRA: $27,480

Maximum CSRA: $137,400

Community Spouse Monthly Housing Allowance: $653.25 ($816.38 for Alaska, $751.50 for Hawaii)

Home Equity Limits

Minimum: $636,000

Maximum: $955,000
