Under President Trump, the proposed budget for the 2020 fiscal year was released on Monday, March 11. This proposed budget would have states choose between a per capita cap or a block grant to fund Medicaid; this is in an effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Critics of the proposed budget explain how “states already struggle to adequately finance long-term services and supports through their Medicaid programs.” Due to the fact that Medicaid funds the largest amount for long-term care compared to privately paying or insurance, this cut may decrease the access to long-term care for many citizens.
