Government Shutdown and Medicaid

With a partial government shutdown currently occurring, many wonder if this will affect their Medicaid benefits. Luckily, Medicaid is one of the agencies that already had its funding approved so they will continue to be available until September 30, 2019.

That is not to say people still may not be affected by this shutdown. Some agencies, like the Indian Health Service and the Food and Drug Administration, are going unfunded and are furloughing nearly a quarter of their employees in order to deal with this lack of funding.

The date to be aware of for the next round of funding for Medicaid will be October 1.
