Governor Ned Lamont’s administration in Connecticut has moved to increase nursing home worker’s rates over the next 3 years. With this increase, it is predicted to cost the state over $50 million. The workers have previously threatened to strike on June 3 if a deal had not been made that would address their expired contracts and wages.
The governor’s administration is now tasked with getting a new budget passed that would cover these increases. In the original budget, there were no funds allocated to nursing homes. The facilities have received an increase in Medicaid over the past few years, but they have not recently seen an increase across the industry for inflation.
